CATHIE JAMIESON

Cathie Jamieson is an Anishinaabe artist, from the bear clan of Mississaugas of Credit First Nation, now living on Manitoulin Island, in Wikwemikong Unceded Territory as a practicing artist. "Artworks are shaped by my own identity, touching on themes of; the dream realm, powwow dancers, clan systems, natural elements, landscapes, figures, sound and abstract forms. Each artwork becomes my interpretation of the world, influenced by my past and present, showing how reality is reflected through my eyes. Experimenting with paints, fabrics, new application techniques, concepts and materials. I become embedded within the creation process, to see where each artwork starts out and where they finish. Identity and practice of artworks to answer who I am, where I come from, what are my attributes. Each artwork becomes an open conversation, as every individual has an opinion and voice; mine is just endlessly spoken through my art." Cathie was a Perimeter Project artist.
